Colors, Part V

I meant to post this a few days ago and, not surprisingly, didn't actually get around to it until now. Anyway, this is the final set of "color" songs - basically all the leftovers, colors with only one or two songs and songs that qualify for more than one color. So, enough with the talk, let's get to the music!

• Camera Obscura - Razzle Dazzle Rose

Courage, my love, will make me bolder. Expecting softness can lead to foolishness. When I choose my color, it will be razzle dazzle rose.

• The Ditty Bops - Pale Yellow

Forever leering, forever dashing, forever looking to peers, forever hollow - that's worse than yellow. Piss is the color of tears; this is the color of tears.

• Laura Veirs - Black Gold Blues

Ten black stars at my windowpane, that's ten pretty stars circle in my veins. Old barbed wire, going to fight and sting, just ten little stars going to make me sing.

• Mates of State - Tan/Black

Color it tan, color it black. I think they both go nicely. Coloring man, stop stuttering, man. You fall on the floor and it goes nicely.

• Metric - White Gold

Hush, don't explain when you water down my name. I'll be up too late. Call me when you get better at your game - you haven't beat me yet.

• Patty Griffin - Burgundy Shoes

We wait for the bus that's going to Bangor in my plaid dress and burgundy shoes. In your red lipstick and lilac kercheif, you're the most pretty lady in the world.

• Pretty Balanced - Green Beans

No need for something new, you can live second-hand but then, you know, you're living second-hand and then you wonder, are you living at all?

• Rasputina - In Old Yellowcake

In tunnels gouged beneath the basement rooms are, unmistakably, sets of bloody handprints on a crumbling wall.

• Regina Spektor - Long Brown Hair

Don't put a stumbling block in front of someone who can't see. Don't put a beautiful body in front of someone who's hungry. She was so pretty, as pretty as can be, and I thought, "My God, why shouldn't it be me?"

• Tilly and the Wall - Black and Blue

Put your hand on my heart, spray paint verses on a cold blue wall, write our names in the burning sand, watch as snowflakes melt inside our hands.

• Tori Amos - Purple People (Christmas in Space)

Lily white matricide from vicious words, it doesn't leave a scratch so therefore no one's hurt.
