Well, our crappy computer decided to die on us and we haven't decided whether to get it fixed for the millionth time or just get a new one yet, so I don't know when I'll be able to post new music again. For now, here is some stuff I uploaded before this big fiasco. It's all bands I've uploaded before but if you didn't check them out then, here are some other songs and some nice little descriptions to convince you. Make it last because it may be a long time before anything else. Wish me the best of luck! ;)

STARS

Dramatic, layered, orchestral pop. The vocals are split between Amy Millan and Torquil Campbell, whose styles are almost completely opposite but work together perfectly. Amy's voice is very simple but beautiful and reminiscent of a more ethereal, softer Emily Haines (Metric). Torq, on the other hand, definitely has a flare for the overdramatic and often borders on cheesiness but never quite steps over that line. Each song is like a short film, telling a story in the most lush and gorgeous way possible. They're like crack for your ears, seriously. I haven't been so obsessed with a band in awhile.

For fans of: Feist, Rilo Kiley, The Most Serene Republic, Broken Social Scene

ST. VINCENT

Chaotic and weird yet beautiful, avantgarde yet accessible. Almost everything you hear in these songs is performed by the insanely talented Annie Clark, previously known as a member of The Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Stevens' touring band. She has a knack for turning the most unlikely melodies and sounds into something completely catchy and addictive. Her voice is also highly expressive and versatile, able to be high and childlike or low and menacing. Her lyrics are top-notch as well, full of strong imagery and colorful metaphors.

For fans of: My Brightest Diamond, Bat for Lashes, Kate Bush, Jesca Hoop

WINTERPILLS

Slow, sad and simple folk-pop. Philip Price has one of those Elliott Smith-esque voices that sounds depressed no matter what he's singing. Flora Reed's background vocals serve as a lighter, but still strong, contrast. Almost all of their songs are on the slower end of the spectrum but never boring. Basically, it's perfect music for the upcoming cold winter days or anytime you want to curl up in a ball and wallow in self pity (okay, maybe not quite that depressing).

For fans of: Elliott Smith, Carissa's Wierd, Damien Rice, The Innocence Mission

Download: A Benediction, A Ransom, Broken Arm, July, Laughing, Portrait
