I thought it would be fun to find songs that had the same titles but were completely different songs and compare them to see which was best. This'll kind of be an on-going theme, not necessarily one right after the other, but a few little "battles" every now and then. Here are three of the best match-ups I could find, between songs that I really love, making it very hard to pick the best.

  • Fiona Apple - I Know vs. Sarah Slean - I Know
This is pretty much the most difficult match-up ever because I adore both of these songs. Like, in the "among my very favorites ever by anybody" way. They are both perfect musically, vocally, and lyrically. There's not really much I can say that accurately describes their amazingness. You just need to listen to them to get it. And if you don't get it by then, I hate you. Maybe not, but it will make me very sad. Winner: This is just too hard, seriously. If I had to pick... Sarah might have the slight edge... but then I feel like I'm downplaying how amazing Fiona's is... I have to say both of them. I have to. I know it's a cop-out but it's seriously impossible for me to choose.

  • Fall of Snow - Release Me vs. Oh Laura - Release Me
It's really hard to decide between these two as well. They both start out as mellow folky songs with gorgeous female vocals and are pretty, but not extremely stunning or memorable. But just when they almost lull you to sleep, they suddenly become epic and intense and spine-chilling and you realize that they really are stunning and memorable. Winner: Oh Laura, because the build-up is slightly more rewarding and it's more interesting from the beginning than Fall of Snow's.

  • The Bird and the Bee - Spark vs. Over the Rhine - Spark vs. Tori Amos - Spark
This one is a bit easier than the other two, even though all three songs are still really good. The Bird and the Bee's is pretty much the only slow song on the album but it's gorgeous and closes it perfectly. It's very simple but very effective that way. Over the Rhine's is also beautiful and showcases Karin's lovely voice but it's probably my least favorite of the three. Then we have Tori's, which is rightfully one of her "classic" songs. The lyrics are top-notch and there's that impressive piano riff at the bridge, but to be honest, I've heard it so much that it doesn't get to me nearly as much as it used to. Winner: At this very moment, I'd pick the Bird and the Bee. Overall, though, I would give it to Tori, because if I had never heard these songs until now, it would probably leave the biggest impact.

I think it would be really cool for people to leave a comment and tell me who your winners would be if you download them. Then we can get a nice debate going if you don't agree with me, of course, haha.
