Maria Taylor - Lost Time

Maria Taylor - Lost Time
I never said that it was mine
I was just holding it
If I was lonely all this time
Well, I didn't know it
And if I tried too hard
I'd probably blow it
The rest is just a guess
If it's all just luck
It was tough enough
If we lost some time
Then we'll make it up
I never said that it was time
I was just hoping it
If I was always on your mind
Well, you didn't show it
But when I'd shut my eyes
You'd always know it
The rest could be the best
And if it's all just luck
It was tough enough
If we lost some time
Then we'll make it up
And a heart that grieves
Gets lost in everything
And a heart in need
Finds hope in anything
If it's all just luck
It was tough enough
And if we lost some time
Then we'll make it up
If we lost some time
Then we'll make it up
We lost some time
Now we're making it up
I haven't posted any Maria in awhile so I figured it was time again. I got the urge to listen to 11:11 the other night and it got me thinking which of her albums I like better. Honestly, it's no competition for me: 11:11 is the winner. But I've decided that there are only about four songs from that I listen to on a regular basis outside of listening to the entire album but it's pretty much flawless as a single entity. Whereas with Lynn Teeter Flower, there are a lot of songs I adore on their own but I get kind of bored listening to the whole thing. Anyway, that really has nothing to do with this song but I just thought I'd share my revelation. Now, "Lost Time": this song just proves that sometimes less is more (it's totally cliche to say that, I know). It's so simple lyrically and musically but perfect as it is. The lyrics so accurately describe being unhappy in a relationship but hoping that things will get better in the future with very few words. This is especially true of the second verse, where the first half describes the narrator's unhappiness with her lover and the second half mentions the positive aspects and her unwillingness to give up hope: "the rest could be the best". It's just lovely. And that bridge, ahhh, absolutely spine-tingling. Maria's voice is so effortlessly beautiful. Anyway, yeah, great song and one that took me awhile to truly appreciate.

Anyway, I have some songs I want you to listen to!
http://www.tindeck.com/audio/my/zbgx/Out-of-State-Plates
http://www.tindeck.com/audio/my/orqh/Island
They're both by unknown artists I found on tindeck, and they have never left my ipod. I was going to pm you or something, but I don't know how :X

Does LJ have a PM-like system? I don't even know.

And the name of the singer in the first song in Michael Ruiz, but I can't find anything about him other than he keeps his files here: http://www.tindeck.com/files.php?su=loldoctor
If you click their user name on Tindeck it shows all of their files, and some of them are tagged in itunes, but you have to sort through a lot of junk to find the interesting stuff.
sorry, i feel really creepy and my livejournal's been dead for years now buuut
