Seriously, this list is amazing. You have such great taste in music, I can't believe I didn't think to visit your journal sooner. I love that you included a ton of free and legal downloads, and I agree 100% about the satisfaction of a tangible CD instead of a folder of files on a computer.

I've also switched from sendspace and am currently thinking about using mediafire, but box.net is also a site I'm considering.

Anyway, all this is to say I'm friending you (you seem like a really great person) and I'm snagging quite a few albums/songs. Thanks!

Hello there! :) Getting comments like this makes me all warm and fuzzy inside, hehe. It looks like we are musically similar in many ways.

And about uploading... I stick to sendspace for full albums and stuff I don't mind expiring like requests, but box.net is definitely good if you want your links to last awhile (possibly forever? I'm not sure). I tried to upload at mediafire once and it was all messed up, so I kinda gave up, haha... though downloading from there is probably the best for me so maybe it was just a one time thing. :P

This is Lindsay from CBB. I would really appreciate it if you could take down the CBB downloads you have up. I really like sharing, too! and I really appreciate your interest in the music. But the thing is, the new album is not out yet, and I want it to be special. I want people to listen to it and feel really, really good about hearing it all for the first time.

It's also nice to be able to make some money for CD sales. CD sales equal money to tour, equal money for merchandise, and even a little bit on the side for me to live and pay rent.

I don't know how you got the tracks, but I am nervous that they are leaking all over and I would appreciate it if you could pass this message on to others.

You don't have to take West Coast Lights down, because that was never released. But please, it is important that the others don't stay up.

I'm very sorry. I totally get where you're coming from and I'll take the links down right now. I purchased your album and was just so excited in discovering your music, I probably acted before thinking it through entirely and thought it would be okay to put up just a few songs to encourage other people to buy it. Unfortunately, there are probably more people who download and buy nothing than people like me who download but buy things whenever they can and I guess I thought that since I felt such a strong reaction when I first heard your music that I bought it instantly, other people would too.

I just wanted to let you know that I definitely didn't mean to harm you in any way, quite the contrary, and I hope you don't take me making a stupid mistake too personally. I'm looking very much forward to your new album and I will be buying it whenever it comes out. I'm just a huge fan of yours who was so eager to share your music, I got a little overzealous about it. And I apologize for that.

thanks for taking the songs down, i really appreciate it. let all of your friends and followers know that the new album will be out july 31st!! so not much more waiting. then i will be doing a short tour to support the album.

I appreciate you wanting to spread the gospel" so to speak; it sure does lead to more fans and more friends. unfortunately, most people just download, which sucks! but it's life. sigh, the internet is lame for this reason, i suppose.

Need to thank you for your journal with your posts, and let you (and perhaps others) know that because of your posts, I have purchased the following:

~Concert tickets to Rilo Kiley (one for me, one for a friend, also new to Rilo)
~One Rilo Kiley album, plus more to follow, without doubt
~One Tegan and Sarah album
~One CocoRosie album
~One Eisley album

I would have purchased concert tickets for Tegan and Sarah, but their show is late on a weeknight, and I just can't do that anymore and be of any use at work the next day. Still considering other albums/concerts. Thanks much for your efforts!

Oh, wow.

I don't even know what to say to that except that it makes me indescribably happy. I sometimes feel discouraged when I get no replies to a post but then I'll get a comment like this every once in awhile and it completely makes my day. I'm so passionate about music and I love to share it with others and to see that my posts influenced you so much is mindblowing. It's especially nice to see that you were persuaded to actually buy CDs and concert tickets, since it seems fewer and fewer people want to spend money on music these days and that was one of the main reasons I started this - to give people a taste that will hopefully get them to invest in more. And, I have to say, it's awesome to see you've become such a Rilo Kiley fan since they're my favorite band and I'm always afraid my constant gushing will annoy people more than it will persuade them to listen. :P

Anyway, thank you so much for your kind words! Things like that inspire me to keep this thing going.

I agree wiht you. The problem with music (especially the physical media) is not easy to find. Sometimes you have to order abroad to get a copy.Another sad thing is the fact that this is not possible for non credit card users.
